Xarus provides support for Fair Use 4 WM through the forums. Please click here to be directed directly there. You must be a Xarus member, or register and become a member of Xarus to recieve support.

NOTICE: This program is designed and intended to enable fair-use rights to PURCHASED media. Although the program will strip the DRM from any PlaysForSure file, whether you've purchased or just rented the song, it's your responsibility to ensure fair use of this program and your music. While there isn't support for license expiration/rental detection, please don't use this to abuse rental licenses.

Basic Requirements:
1. Windows XP
2. Access to obtain new valid licenses for Purchased Media.

NOTICE: You must be able to obtain new valid licenses for media, as in the process, all current licenses will be lost.

Restrictions:
FairUse4WM will not work with the following service providers. This includes if they are installed, but were not used to purchase the media.
1. Vongo
2. Zune Marketplace

Instructions:
Please follow these steps in the order they are in, or fairuse4wm will not work.

  1. Open up the downloads page of Xarus.net, and download the installation package for Windows Media Player 11 Beta 2.
  2. Install the entire package. If prompted to restart the computer, choose Restart Now.
  3. Open Internet Explorer and copy and paste http://services.wmdrm.windowsmedia.com/indivSite into the Address Bar.
  4. Click "Upgrade" and follow the process to complete the individualization/IBX process.
  5. Obtain new copies of the licenses from your media service provider.
  6. Open up the downloads page of Xarus.net, and download the installation package for FairUse4WM.
  7. Open FairUse4WM. Click on Recover Keys. Click on Next.
  8. Add the files you wish to have the DRM removed.
  9. Select an output directory where you would like the DRM Free copies of the music to be deposited.
  10. Click Next and watch as the DRM is removed from all the music.

NOTICE: Do not install Windows Media Player Updates or you will need to repeat these instructions to be able to remove DRM again.

Whenever you need to have DRM removed from the music, just follow steps 7 through 10 for the new music. Thats it.
